Local 4 a Local Favourite
One of our favourite nearby eateries is the Local 4, an intimate, cozy little restaurant/pub just off of Younge St., near the Wellesley intersection. Named for it’s street number, 4 Dundonald, it can be found in a little white house with a small patio out front, covered in greenery during the summer months. Inside, the lightening is low and subdued, music eclectic but unobtrusive, and a reasonably priced menu is offered, with an excellent selection of local brews on tap. Open Monday to Friday from 5pm to 2am, it’s a favourite place for locals to watch the game or have a chat. Saturdays and Sundays the doors are open from 11am onward, serving brunch as well as dinner. The menu is a take on standard pub fare with Mediterranean, middle eastern and Asian influences. Starters on the dinner menu include delectable Asian Pork spring rolls, and a tangy, authentic Caesar Salad. Our preferred mains are the Steak and frites, served with three dipping sauces, Theo’s Gourmet 8oz burger, and the sinfully sticky Bourbon Back Ribs. Specials change weekly, and are often as good as menu standards. If you’re there for after-dinner drinks or still feel peckish after a full meal, the dessert menu offers a fantabulous flourless chocolate cake, rich enough to satisfy two people with one slice. So if you’re in the Bloor/Younge area looking for a quiet corner to enjoy a drink or meal, the Local 4 is an excellent choice.
