The Toronto Comicon Cometh: April 13th-15th

For all you comic-readers out there, Comicon, "the show for comic fans by comic fans" is coming to Toronto this weekend, April 13th to the 15th. The exhibition is running in the south building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and is open Friday from 4 to 9, continuing on Saturday from 10 to 6 and Sunday from 11 to 5. Flat rate admission, which gets you in both Saturday and Sunday is $15, and if you spend $10 at comic stores across the GTA this week you’ll get a free admission pass to the exhibition on Friday. Otherwise, tickets are available at the door, cash only. Admission is free to comic fans under 12 if accompanied by an adult.

Features of the exhibition include Artist Alley, where you can meet artists from self-published and small press to professionals from major companies such as Marvel and Dark Horse. Workshops and seminars are running, with free lectures on breaking in to the industry, as well as important tips for working in the trade. Sketching Duels between pro artists will also be presented–the resulting artwork will be given away to audience members. Aspiring comic artists can attend Q& A sessions with industry experts, and have their portfolio reviewed by professionals. And of course, all the major comic book stores and distributors will have booths in the retail area, offering a dizzying selection of merchandise related to comic culture. Check out the comicon website for a schedule of events.
