Contact: Toronto Photography Festival, May 1st-31st, 2007

As the weather brightens and more people take to the streets, pedestrians will discover a unique array of photography exhibitions scattered throughout public spaces around the GTA. Contact is Toronto’s photography festival, which runs for the entire month of May, featuring both local and international artists. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘the constructed image,’ exploring the movement of photography as a medium from an objective eye ...

Local 4 a Local Favourite

One of our favourite nearby eateries is the Local 4, an intimate, cozy little restaurant/pub just off of Younge St., near the Wellesley intersection. Named for it’s street number, 4 Dundonald, it can be found in a little white house with a small patio out front, covered in greenery during the summer months. Inside, the lightening is low and subdued, music eclectic but unobtrusive, and a reasonably priced ...

Big Daddy's

Dynasty Chinese Cuisine: the Genuine Article in an Elegant Environment

Dynasty Chinese Cuisine

Ethnic food restaurants which cater to the desires of the local population abound in Canada, especially when it comes to Chinese food. As a result, ‘Canadian Chinese food,’ with its uniformity and saltiness is considered Chinese cuisine to the ignorant and indifferent. I am fortunate enough to live in Toronto, where genuine Chinese food is not hard to ...

Johnny's Hamburgers in Toronto

Johnny's Hamburgers is an institution here in Scarborough. It's been around since I was a child...and that's a long time. It's a small burger joint with no seating but it's always busy during the lunch rush. For me it's a taste of home and I have friends that must make the trek there whenever they are back in town. My favourite is the  bacon burger and onion rings. It's delicious and ...
