The Rose & Crown: Friendly neighborhood pub at Yonge & Eg!

Rose and Crown logo

Yonge and Eglinton: Most people see this uptown Toronto area as posh with expensive little Italian restaurants and chic boutiques. In the midst of the swankiness is The Rose & Crown - a cozy, comforable pub sans attitude. Great staff, affordable and the grub is delicious (try their nachos with chili)! The kitchen is open till ...

St. Lawrence Market: Bringing the Farm to the City

South Building, St. Lawrence Market

Visitors from rural communities seem to be drawn to the St. Lawrence Market, an ancient Toronto institution, first established back in 1803. It is situated at the intersection of King and Jarvis streets, in an area which used to be fairly grubby, but in recent years has turned into a haven for upscale condo-dwellers, intimate bistros and high-end furniture ...

Messis: One of the Most Underrated Restaurants in Toronto

At least, according to Joanne Kates of the North Toronto Post. However, I’m inclined to agree with her–this restaurant at 97 Harbord is a small paradise of culinary perfection. How do you tell if a restaurant is good? It’s always busy. Messis doesn’t have a huge indoor space (the patio nearly doubles its capacity during the summer months) but through the lunch hour and by 8 pm ...

A Knight out - Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Toronto

Medieval Times is a captivating and unique take on the "dinner and show" night out. We took our sons, ages 8 and 6, last Christmas and it was a magical experience. As soon as you arrive you are tranformed back to the 11th century, a time of gallantry and knights.

I wouldn't say I enjoyed eating without cutlery but the kids loved being barbarians. The kids were mesmerized by all the characters and was ...

Kensington Kitchen: Exquisite Food, Excellent Atmosphere

As the patio season is upon us, I thought it would be wise to introduce a little gem of a restaurant on Harbord street, just west of Spadina. Kensington Kitchen is a quiet, simply decorated two-floor plus patio space in an old office building just across from the renowned Harbord Bakery. The menu, influenced by both Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes, is a perfect mix which appeals to ...

If you have a shoe fetish then Toronto's Bata Shoe Museum will definitely fulfill your every fantasy. The museum has over 10,000 pairs of shoes spanning 4,500 years of history from all over the world. This is where the infamous theft of jewelry and jewelled slippers occurred last summer.

It's interesting to see how shoes have evolved over time. They even have footwear from famous celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon and ...

Toronto Zoo for March Break - March 9-18

Most people wouldn't think about going to the Toronto Zoo during the winter but they have a variety of programs running throughout the year. During March Break (March 9-18), they have a special program called Bugsibitz. You guessed it. It features the wild world of bugs. They even have cricket cookies and bug brittle. I guess you should try those at your own risk.

I have a family membership at the zoo ...
