Toronto Student Film Festival

Film students put in tons of time and commitment to their projects, and now is the time for the community to come out and appreciate all their hard work. This is an inexpensive way to enjoy an evening. It's only $6 for one night or $10 for a pass to the entire festival. This is a fun event for high school students to go to with a bunch of friends, families and just people interested in the immense talent of students.

The Toronto Student Film Festival will feature short films that were written, directed, edited or produced by students during their high school years, as well as acclaimed short films from around the world. The films will be professionally judged, with awards and prizes announced on March 31.

The festival will also showcase the powerful documentary, Making of a Martyr, by Canadian filmmaker Alistair Leyland. The film tells the story of Hussam, a young Palestinian bomber stopped at a security checkpoint, and provides an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at the homes, prisons and schools of young recruits. It received the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the 2006 United Nations Documentary Film Festival. Leyland will be on hand on March 31 to discuss the challenges of completing this documentary about child suicide bombers.

Crescent School's state-of-the-art Centre for Creative Learning is fully accessible and there will be ample free parking. The Toronto Student Film Festival will feature short films that were written, directed, edited or produced by students during their high school years, as well as acclaimed short films from around the world.
