Lula Lounge: Muy Caliente!
I've been to Cuba a couple of times (and off to Varadero in 3 weeks!) and I've always said to myself after coming back that I would love Toronto to have a lounge that played Cuban music. Well, I didn't have to look too far. On the corner of Dufferin and Dundas is Lula Lounge.
Last night, Lula held a fundraiser called "Hot Hot Cuba" hosted by IBBY Canada (International Board on Books for Young People), a non-profit organization bringing children and books together. It was truly a fantastic evening of live music, salsa dancing, portraits and silent auctions in support of IBBY.
Lula Lounge has been opened for 5 years and its a great place for lovers of world music. With live salsa bands and musicians, this is the place to get a taste of Cuba, Brazil and India under one roof in Toronto. Friday and Saturday nights are their salsa nights and you can get a dinner and dance package, if you wish, for $49 on Friday nights and $54 on Saturday nights. Lula also has a calendar of events from fundraisers to CD releases and dance parties - you will not be disappointed!
Check out their website at: www.lulalounge.ca or better yet take a trip there yourself - Lula Lounge is located at 1585 Dundas Street West, one and a half blocks west of Dufferin. Street parking is available on Dundas West and is $1 per hour until 9pm, after which parking is free.
Hasta luego!
