For West End Java Junkies This Is The Bomb
Nestled amongst the quality Polish delis, shops, and bakeries, that help make Roncesvalles Ave. one of the most pleasant strolling neighborhoods in the city, is a little establishment with an exploding cherry hung over its doorway. I'm speaking of Cherry Bomb Coffee (67 Roncesvalles Ave.- just north of Marion St.), one of the West end's little treasures.
While the northerly part of Roncesvalles boasts a plethora of quality coffee shops including the veteran and still fine Alternative Grounds and the omnipresent Starbuck's and Timothy's, the southern end of the street is a little leaner for those seeking a quality coffee fix. The Cherry Bomb with its pleasant, home style, no-nonsense approach to coffee service more than fills this void.
Don't be fooled by its size. This little coffee house packs a big bang. While people line up for the Americanos, it's their signature Cherry Bomb blend that keeps this java junkie coming back for more. Grab a scrumptious, homemade, all purpose berry muffin and you've got yourself a tasty breakfast combination that's hard to beat. Homemade scones, cookies, biscotti and other assorted goodies are also available for a take along treat. (You'll know they're homemade because the oven is located just a few feet behind the counter, the place always smelling of freshly baked goodness.) Of course you can always take home a bag of ground coffee for that explosive taste right in your own home.
Though not much in the way of seating (counter stools seat six), "The Bomb" as it is locally known, provides more than enough delicious "oomph" to keep you merrily strolling along.
