Shanghai Cowgirl
If your ever in the queen and bathurst area (538 Queen st) just getting out of the bar and looking for a late night snack or a really early breakfast theres a really awesome rock n roll diner next to the Bovine Sex club called Shanghai Cowgirl. With just the right greasiness to fill your tummy and enough of a variety to tickle your tastebuds really whatever your in the mood for at 2 am on the weekends they have. They close at about 4am on the weekends and during the the week they close at 11pm. One of my favourite after bar foods is the sweet potato fries with a side of wasabi mayo mmmmm yum. Or you could try the things mom used to make- the ghetto chicken...yum... its the deep fried chicken with mushrooms and gravy on top. Their sandwhiches- trailer trash sushi chicken burger with wasabi mayo, the philly cheese and the Geisha Grill to name a few are all favourites of some friends of mine. They also serve up the good veggie burgers they ones that don't taste like cardboard lol and if you'd like some shanghai noodles or fried rice they have that too! The service is great, the staffs awesome and you won't be shelling out a crazy amount of cash for your meal. The owner of this little place also owns the Bovine next door and sometimes doubles as the cook. They also do catering and takeout for anyone that can't dine in. During the summer their little wooden patio in the back is an awesome place to sit and have a couple of pitchers. One of the other things I like about this place is the art work they have around the restaurant by local artists mostly canvas paintings of pop art sometimes they have mixed media art too. They are for sale so if u do end up drunk inside shanghai cowgirl and decide you really want that picture of Marilyn Monroe you can buy it.
