Top Thai in Toronto
In nearly every direction you look and every corner you turn, there is a Thai restaurant in Toronto. So how do you decide?
Here are three places that will treat almost anybody's Thai tastebuds:
The Green Mango has four locations in the city; two on Yonge Street and two on Bloor Street West. It's been around since 1980, and by exhibiting two very different decor schemes, it attracts a variety of customers. If you visit the location at Royal York and Bloor you will find a warm, cozy atmosphere surrounded by earthy tones. If you wonder just down the street to the Bloor West Village location, you will discover a completely different take with a contemporary black and white design, but same friendly service. Their noodle dishes will leave you stuffed or with a doggy bag, and are mostly under $10. www.greenmango.ca
When you walk by Spring Rolls, you'll be quick to assume it's quite pricey because you can see the whole restaurant through the huge glass wall that looks across the street to the Eaton Centre. However, a large portion of what is arguably the best pad thai in the city is under $9 and you can eat it in both comfort and style. Spring Rolls doesn't just specialize in thai cuisine, but also Vietnamese and rice platters. www.springrolls.ca
If your primary concern is authenticity, the Salad King, located near Yonge and Dundas offers a variety of Thai dishes, and is a very popular choice amongst Torontonians; but don't go expecting a private, intimate experience as the restaurant is setup similar to a cafeteria and you may share a table with complete strangers. www.saladking.com
