Located just north of Bloor, Gee Beauty offers beauty services for people on the go. Specializing in time sensitive treatments, long-time beauty editor Miriam Gee and her daughters launched Gee Beauty in 2005. The spa concentrates on the face, offering tips on make-up application, facials and manicures. Ever been to the Magic Pony?

This little boutique at 694 queen street west is a gallery, shop and studio space of unique exhibits and products. For anyone interested in finding designer toys and seeing creative unique exhibits should definitely stop into the Magic Pony. They have one of the best collections of UNIQUE plush and designer toys i've seen so far. Their clothing and printed matter are kind of meh but all their toys are mostly ...

For West End Java Junkies This Is The Bomb

Nestled amongst the quality Polish delis, shops, and bakeries, that help make Roncesvalles Ave. one of the most pleasant strolling neighborhoods in the city, is a little establishment with an exploding cherry hung over its doorway.  I'm speaking of Cherry Bomb Coffee (67 Roncesvalles Ave.- just north of Marion St.), one of the West end's little treasures.

While the northerly part of Roncesvalles boasts a plethora of quality coffee shops including the veteran and still fine Alternative Grounds ...

Burrito Fresh, Not So Fresh

Seating at Burrito Fresh
When I moved to Toronto from New York, one of the first things that I noticed was the lack of Mexican food available. I had previously lived within a ten minute walk of five Mexican restaurants - not including the local Taco Bell. And here I was in downtown Toronto without a burrito in sight. It made me regret all ...

A Good Indian Restaurant in a Toronto Suburb

There are good Indian restaurants all over the city of Toronto, and in time this blog will probably end up covering most of them! =)

One good one that you'll find is a place called Bombay Palace - there are actually two of them in Toronto, but the one I'm talking about here is the one located in Scarborough, one of the more residential areas of Toronto.  It's an all-you-can-eat buffet, with both meat and vegetable options, at a very reasonable price.

The Dance Cave

Located on the south side of Bloor Street, just a few meters away from Bathurst Street, stands Lee's Palace, a famous Canadian two-storey club, where many celebrity musicians have played to sold-out shows, and many a new rock band has exhibited its stuff.  But among the rocker circles in Toronto the place is perhaps most famous for its Saturday night club nights.  On the second floor of the Palace is what ...

A lesson on how to shop in Chinatown

Toronto's Chinatown is not nearly as large as New York City's, running right down Spadina Ave, and bounded by College St. to the north and Dundas St. to the south. However, many people, local and tourists alike, do visit the area for some cheap groceries. There are some customs when going into a Chinese supermarket though.

Like, for one, foreigners may find it awkward to have Chinese grocers shout at you ...

Something's brewing dowtown

Without getting into what constitutes a 'tourist trap' in Toronto (and believe me, there are many), I thought I'd toss out a a place there that has all the hallmarks of a great destination--Namely, it's easy to get to, is a piece of Toronto history, and has lots of cheap beer!

The Steam Whistle Brewery is located in the Roundhouse Centre, which used to be where the trains ...

Top Thai in Toronto

In nearly every direction you look and every corner you turn, there is a Thai restaurant in Toronto. So how do you decide?

Here are three places that will treat almost anybody's Thai tastebuds:

The Green Mango has four locations in the city; two on Yonge Street and two on Bloor Street West. It's been around since 1980, and by exhibiting two very different decor schemes, it attracts a variety of customers. ...
