Hot Salsa Now
So how do you like your salsa? Spicy hot, hot, hot, or perhaps instead something smooth and subtle. Whatever your preference, we have a suggestion for a night of salsa and more salsa. Start at Ahora (now) Restaurant in the Byward Market. This restaurant has a sauce for almost any taste - just step up to their salsa bar and make your selection.
Tucked away in an informal and intimate location, 307 Dalhousie Street, Ahora offers not only a unique but also likely the most authentic Mexican dining experience in the area. Almost everything is prepared fresh from the excellent guacamole and chips to one of their very filling platters. Three of us each ordered an appetizer an entre and shared a pitcher of Margaritas for about $70 (including taxes).
Then just a couple of short blocks away, 110 York Street, Club Caliente (hot) offers another selection of salsa. On Fridays free lessons are offered so beginners can get the basics and others can practice. The dance floor is fairly large, which is a good thing once the couples start moving. Sometimes it is just fun to watch. Salud!
