It's Italian week in Ottawa!

Photo by Jon BlockItalian week is now on in Ottawa until June 17th 2007. The celebration of all things Italian takes place on Preston Street, also called Corso Italia, and is the heart of Ottawa’s Little Italy. Most of the businesses in this area of the city are family owned and operated, with the owner normally found within the store to answer any questions you may have, or just to chat. This section of the city is also famous for its Italian heritage and events, including the Annual Harvest Celebration, Ferrari Festival, and the previous mentioned Italian Week.

During the Friday and Saturday evenings of Italian week, Preston Street closes to traffic and opens to pedestrians, buskers, artists, musicians and sidewalk cafes for a true Italian celebration. On Sunday the street closes again at noon for the Little Italy Bike Race which runs from 1PM until 5PM.
