A trip to Bowen Island makes a fantastic excursion out of Vancouver, especially now the weather has improved.
Some of the most spectacular views can be seen from the North summit of Mt Gardner, as pictured above, but there is a fair hike before you can enjoy the scenery. From the ferry landing point at Snug Cove, it is around an 11km round trip to ...

It can be nigh on impossible to find a pub in Vancouver that
combines raucous Saturday night high spirits with great food, good service and foot-tapping live music.
Luckily for those living or staying within easy reach of downtown, the Atlantic Trap and Gill is a gem.
Every Thursday and Saturday evening, the pub hosts live bands with an East Coast sound. Celtic inspired drum, ...

If there's one place in Greater Vancouver that every visitor should attempt to visit (especially on a rainy day) it most certainly is The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. I can remember several visits throughout my life, and yet I do not think that I have managed to view the entire permanent collection; ...

Sophia Books is located across the street from Harbour Centre on Hastings Street. It's a great little store that sells books in a variety of languages and often has books that other book store chains don't have. They sell interesting calendars, international music, handmade cards, postcards, bookmarks, notebooks and journals. You can find a nice selection of origami paper there ...

Spelt is a yummy whole grain that's high in protein and fiber. I've tried it in the past just on it's own - porridge style. It wasn't very exciting. Then I found out about The Spelt Bakery down on Venables in the Commercial Drive area and was pleasantly surprised by their assortment of baked goods and ...

Every day, I walk past the shop of my dreams and gaze longingly inside.
Dainty little cupcakes rise in colourful tiers to create a rainbow of sweet treats.
So imagine my joy when I opened my eyes to a box from Cupcakes this Valentine's morning.
Two stores, at 1116 Denman Street and 2887 West Broadway, have a range of cakes guaranteed to ...

Jack Christie is a name well known to Vancouverites...depending upon the Vancouverite I suppose
However his books, most notably the one shown to the left 50 Best Day Trips From Vancouver, are invaluable assets both for Visitors to the city and for locals who feel they may not have explored the outlying areas of the region to a satisfactory degree.
I have ...

TNT Supermarket is an Asian supermarket, easy to get to via the skytrain to Vancouver. All you need to do is hop on the skytrain and get off at Stadium station - head up the stairs and turn right. You'll see it right in front of you. You can't miss it. If you've gone down the stairs at the train station, you'll end up going towards ...
