Eating well on the way to Whistler

The Cup Bistro and Deli

Imagine being able to trust that the food you feed your family is not full of pesticides, growth hormones and antibiotics. Then, imagine knowing first hand who raised the animals that fill your sausages and sandwiches. Now imagine a red seal certified chef who has graced the kitchens of Rob Feenie's Lumiere and the prestigious Vancouver Club preparing traditional food with ...

CinCin’s mushroom and truffle festival

new-image.JPG
What do you get when you bring a chef trained in the South of France whose philosophy is "Simplicity is the hallmark of genius. Fresh ingredients should speak for themselves in order to allow natural flavours to stand out on the plate"  to Vancouver? Well ,you get epicurean artist François Gagnon throwing a harvest celebration called Festa del Fungo.
This will be Vancouver's legendary ...

West End Dining at Highly Acclaimed Raincity Grill

Pemberton Potatoes (photo courtesy of raincity grill)Dining in Vancouver is pretty exceptional considering we have some of the best chefs in the world . I love the fact that hot spots like Raincity Grill promote the best and brightest of our great province.Sure they have a superb chef, but what I am talking about here is the fact that they showcase amazing products that are caught, grown, ...

Sushi Is Genki In Vancouver

For certain, sushi is one of the trendiest meals on the westcoast. Apart from being stylish, sushi is a healthy choice for anyone. Fresh vegetables, fish, and rice come together to form a very low fat, high nutrient meal. And if you opt for maki (rolls) you get the added nutrients from the nori (seaweed).

My current favourite for take out sushi is Ogenki Sushi on main street. ...

Feenie's

Last night I finally have the pleasure to taste the food from Chef Rob Feenie's very own creation "Feenie's".

Feenie's is a total different atmosphere from Lumiere, THE upscale French cuisine restaurant. Feenie's is very casual, with down to earth menu (when I mean down to earth, I probably mean $$ more than the actual food menu). There is no 11 courses menu which takes 4 hours to finish ...

The Reef

I have wanted to write about The Reef on Main Street and King Edward Ave. for couple months now. Finally get around to it this morning.

Main Street is full of little trendy shops, consignment stores, and has many flavours to offer. There is the delicious bakery called Liberty, the mouth watery God-Father like Cipriano Italian restaurant, up-scale and hip Crave and Caribbean HOT The Reef.

I am not very "wordy" when ...

Brunch in Vancouver

helens_garden_lemon_slice.jpg
The weekend brunch in Vancouver is as common as the construction cranes. And nothing beats a relaxing brunch, right? But, first you'll have to line up, then wait for your server and hope that he or she won't forget about your table. Perhaps you get the feeling that the owners are rushing you out of your table and out the door. ...

The Drive, Continued

Hey ladies,
As promised, here is another one of my ongoing descriptions of places for girls who like girls.
Now it may not seem like much, being just a local neighbourhood pub, but Avantis on the Drive has a lot to be said for it and I will say it here for you:
o New flat screens TVs for watching your favourite sports & a juke box
o Very reasonably priced and decent pub food ...

Commercial Drive - where the girls for girls are

My next several entries will feature different Restaurants/Bars/Pubs along the cool strip that is Commercial Drive.
This week's featured hang out: Stella's
Stella's is a primarily a Tapas bar and Belgium beer house. The clientele is mixed and there is always a significant lesbian contigent here, coming from all over the city. As well, the owners are committed to serving and expanding their number of queer girl customers as they say we ...
