Monday, April 23rd - The Most Important Night in Vancouver Thus Far in the Year?

On Monday, April 23rd, the Vancouver Canucks will face the Dallas Stars in an epic battle of Game Seven.

With two chances to eliminate the almighty Stars from Dallas, the Vancouver Canucks are desperate for a win, or simply just to score a goal, as the past two outings for the Canucks have resulted in scoreless hockey.

Bowen Island - a short hop from the city

mt-gardner-view-north-summit.jpg

A trip to Bowen Island makes a fantastic excursion out of Vancouver, especially now the weather has improved.

Some of the most spectacular views can be seen from the North summit of Mt Gardner, as pictured above, but there is a fair hike before you can enjoy the scenery. From the ferry landing point at Snug Cove, it is around an 11km round trip to ...

Getting high at Whistler

Whistler Resort is set to construct a new lift. Unlike the Symphony Express Chair unveiled this year that opened up a thousand acres of new terrain, this one won't be to get up to a new set of runs. Instead, it will link the two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb.  The "Peak to Peak Gondola" will set a height record, 415 metres (1,316 feet)  at its highest point, and run a length of 4.4 kilometres. The travel ...

Vancouver Shares its Cars

C.A.N. is exclusive to the city, while ZipCar has recently come to Vancouver byway of London, England, the United States, and Toronto.

Car-sharing allows for members to reserve cars according to their needs and pay daily or hourly rates for the vehicle usage. It saves the hassle of owning a car, and is beneficial for the environment.

Car-sharing is easier than renting a car. While predominantly an incentive for local ...

Becks and Posh in Vancouver??

So, remember back in January I wrote a blog reading: "Build it and he will come. David Beckham, I mean."? I was joking, but it turns out the UK midfielder himself may actually be coming to Vancouver! Indeed, a tentative deal has been struck between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Los Angeles Galaxy to play an exhibition game here at BC Place on October 3rd. Nothing is written in stone as Beckham has yet ...

Fifth Avenue Cinema on Burrard Street

Watched "Sharkwater" at Fifth Avenue Cinema last night (www.sharkwater.com). It was an astonishing documentary with spectacular underwater footages.

Aside from the fact the movie worthed every penny, Fifth Avenue Cinema is a real treat compare to the big movie theatre chains.

Situated between Burrard street and fifth avenue (I assume), the location is prime, yet the cinema offers a cozy, small town feel, kind of like the 1960's , when our parents ...

Summer In Vancouver

The sun is slowly starting to come out and flowers are finally opening up. The warmth and the long days bring a smile to my face. Finally ! What a horrible long winter we had. Power outages, windstorms, snow ! I overly welcome the change in temperature and can't stop smiling about the teasing hint of summer surfacing around the corner. Summer time in Vancouver is ...

Grouse MountainWhat's all this I hear about Friday the Thirteenth bearing bad omens, bad luck, and generally being a pretty scary day?

Certainly that's not the case on Grouse Mountain where you can Ski or Snowboard for free tomorrow (Friday April 13th). It's the final weekend of the 2006/07 Winter Season, and Grouse Mountain is giving back to the ...
