Contrary to any images conjured by the name, Tea Swamp Park is no wetland. It is a beautiful, peaceful little park that doesn't see a lot of traffic, and it's perfect that way.
There are beautiful trees, beds upon beds of flowers, and peaceful benches. Locals like to sit on the benches and just take it all in.
Tea Swamp also has a small playground, and there are ...

Nestled in between Main and Cambie, along sixteenth avenue, Mount Pleasant Park offers a playground, monkey bars, and a community center with a pool.
The swimming pool is outdoor, so is only open during the summer months (when the city workers are not on strike, that is). It's a small pool, with grassed areas inside the fencing. It makes a nice ...

Whoever says that Yaletown is an uptight, stuffy neighbourhood needs to read this post.
On Saturday July 21 (from noon-6pm) Yaletown is hosting a free summer party for all. So what is there in Yaletown you ask. Well, there is a very large list of events. Aside from the usual DJ's, dance and music performances there ...

Anyone who has ever watched The Simpson's will appreciate seeing a real live Kwik-E-Mart right here in the lower mainland.
Yes it's true, you can buy pink donuts, just like on the show, and they temporarily renamed their Slurpees 'Squishees' just like on the show.
Why, you ask? It's part of a marketing campaign for the new Simpson's Movie. The movie is set to open on July 27, so ...

Vancouver is renowned for being a lush, green city. With the kids out of school, and tourist season kicking into full gear (if you doubt me, just hit Robson street on a Saturday afternoon), I thought it would be a good time to do a series on our wonderful parks.
Looking outside today, it's hard to imagine the long sunny days of summer, but I assure you, they are on their ...

Last year we went to a free one day open house event at the North Vancouver Outdoor School. Though slightly rainy, we enjoyed a free day filled with paper making, kayaking, archery, and roasting bannock. All of this at a school campus nestled in the trees; beautiful and peaceful.
This year promises to be a beautiful sunny day, and the event will be even more spectacular.
Then event will ...

Hey ladies,
As promised, here is another one of my ongoing descriptions of places for girls who like girls.
Now it may not seem like much, being just a local neighbourhood pub, but Avantis on the Drive has a lot to be said for it and I will say it here for you:
o New flat screens TVs for watching your favourite sports & a juke box
o Very reasonably priced and decent pub food ...

The best way to get close and personal with Vancouver’s natural splendor is on a kayak. It’s quite a bit different than a canoe, yet it is safer. One of my first kayaking adventures brought me to Horseshoe Bay where my partner and I glided along the blue waters of the Sea to Sky Highway, all while enjoying the shore’s wildlife ...

My next several entries will feature different Restaurants/Bars/Pubs along the cool strip that is Commercial Drive.
This week's featured hang out: Stella's
Stella's is a primarily a Tapas bar and Belgium beer house. The clientele is mixed and there is always a significant lesbian contigent here, coming from all over the city. As well, the owners are committed to serving and expanding their number of queer girl customers as they say we ...

I just had surgery and am currently ordered by my doctor and my fiancé to stay in bed which is a perfect time to catch up on my writing.
Pre-surgery we had a chance to catch the show STOMP at the Center for Performing Art. I was super excited to see STOMP again. The first time I "enjoyed" STOMP was at a super small theatre in New York and it ...
