Bars & Clubs in Vancouver
Wednesday, March 14th, 2007
So I know in past blogs I've written about my love for open mic nights in Vancouver..particularly at the ANZA club. Lately though, I felt I needed to change things up. Upon the advice of a fellow Mic-er...I checked out the Annex on a Wednesday. This small cafe/bar located at cambie/cordova, has a mellow and welcoming atmosphere that makes musicians of any level feel comfortable to show what they can ...

It can be nigh on impossible to find a pub in Vancouver that
combines raucous Saturday night high spirits with great food, good service and foot-tapping live music.
Luckily for those living or staying within easy reach of downtown, the Atlantic Trap and Gill is a gem.
Every Thursday and Saturday evening, the pub hosts live bands with an East Coast sound. Celtic inspired drum, ...

The END CAFE that is. For those Vancouverites who are familiar with the North-East corner of Commercial Drive and Great Northern Way (Grandview Highway), you will know how many different restaurants have tried, with no avail, to establish themselves at this location.
There are too many to mention. That last time I actually ventured inside this location was when Bino's Family Restaurant ...

If you're looking for a lively and fun night out, but aren't interested in going to a Bar, do yourself a favour and wander over to Yaletown Brew Pub.
It's located right in Yaletown and has one side that is a restaurant and than another room across the way, which is a pub. This makes it quite convenient to have dinner and then wander over for some drinks and fun. There ...

43 beers and counting... that's what the sandwich board outside Six Acres reads.
It's true. For the best selection of brew in town, local and import, this Gastown pub is the place to come.
Located directly behind Gassy Jack's statue at Maple Tree square (where Carrall, Powell and Water streets meet), Six Acres is a modest establishment where the ambience will please as much as the eclectic menu. The two floors are ...

For my birthday last month, a friend of mine took me to a pole dancing lesson! I'd heard from a girl on my hockey team that pole dancing lessons are the latest craze in fitness, and even heard about a friend of a friend who had a pole installed in her house so that she could practice her fitness pole dance moves. So anyway, my friend and I met up ...

When Vancouverites need to fill their Salsa craving these nightspots leave the door wide open:
Tango 8 Grill
The Tango 8 Grill heats up on Friday nights, as the tables are cast aside to open up the dance floor. A live band performs sets, while a DJ picks up the slack between numbers by spinning a mix of favorites. It ...

Finding a place to have a cold drink and listen to some nice local music is not as easy as it may seem. The glory days of indie music in Vancouver have dwindled down to embers of what it once was, leaving a wake of dance clubs in its path. The search to see a good local show is something to be treasured and here’s a few locations that seem ...

Alex Cuba (aka Alexis Puentes of the Puentes Brothers) is releasing his new CD entitled Agua del Pozo
at Vancouver's Media Club this Thursday February 8th @ 9:00pm.
Alex Cuba Band's Humo de Tabaco (released 2004) is always in high rotation in my CD-player at home, and I can only imagine that the new album will equal if not surpass the depth and musicality of that one.
Tickets ...
