Anyone who digs copious amounts of wine and food should be heading up to Whistler's biggest gastro-bash called 'Cornucopia'. For five fun filled days you can sharpen your knowledge and skill by attending seminars like:

  • Fuse Box - The Art of Mixing, an educational and fun hands-on experience in the art of blending wine
  • Green Wines-a look at organic, biodynamic and sustainable wines
  • Wine and Water, an exploration of how different types of water affect wine tasting
  • Green Tea-Red Wine and Chocolate, a look at how food and drink can prolong your life
  • Captivating Cabernets from Australia, a tutored tasting of fine Cabernets
  • Eat Asian Drink Alsace which combines Alsatian wines with myriad flavours in Asian cuisine
  • Languedoc-Roussillon - Hidden Gems which will showcase wines of these two established regions.

This annual event is a unique opportunity to mingle, mix and learn from acclaimed chefs, sommeliers, vintners and restaurateurs in Whistler. Be sure to attend the Crush Grand Gala on Friday November 7th and Saturday November 8th, where you will be able to taste wines poured by over 70 wineries . YEAH BABY...write me if you find your new favorite winery.

If you are up for a more sophisticated way to spend your evening then I absolutely recommend you planning an evening at Araxi's 'BIG GUNS WINEMAKER'S DINNER . On Friday November 7th at 7pm Celebrate one of the world's most storied wines, the iconic 1998 Grange. Following a reception of passed canapés and Nicholas Feuillatte Brut Rosé, Executive Chef James Walt will present a five course menu exemplifying fine seasonal ingredients-from the terroir of the Pemberton Valley and the meroir of the Pacific Ocean-each married to critically acclaimed labels and pedigree vintages from one of the world's most diverse wineries. I couldn't even make this stuff up...it is that good!

In addition to the extraordinary Grange, explore the exemplary Yattarna Chardonnay, and the Penfolds ‘Baby Grange' - a mini-vertical tasting of the fresh 2005 and mature 1990 Bin 389 Shiraz.

Penfolds' Matt Lane, Director of Wine Education is traveling from Napa to introduce the wines for each course, providing provocative commentary about Penfolds' portfolio and vineyard holdings, as well as Penfolds' pioneering winemaking processes.
