Feenie's

Last night I finally have the pleasure to taste the food from Chef Rob Feenie's very own creation "Feenie's".

Feenie's is a total different atmosphere from Lumiere, THE upscale French cuisine restaurant. Feenie's is very casual, with down to earth menu (when I mean down to earth, I probably mean $$ more than the actual food menu). There is no 11 courses menu which takes 4 hours to finish :p (I am not complaining, I had great experience at Lumiere).

Last night was our little circle of BCIT alumni quarterly get together, we initially wanted to go to Modern Burger since we have heard great things about it. However, they are undergoing renovation, so a hop skip later, we ended up at Feenie's next door.

I had to go there earlier to grab us a table since the reservation was all full last night. I started my night with a "sweetheart martini". It was very gentle and soft, easy on the throat. Angie had Lychee Drop, and the boys had beers. Once we opened our mouth, we couldn't stop chatting, and the server was very patient with us.

We skipped appetizers and directly ordered our main courses. I had the special of the night, Black Squid Fettuccine with Mussel. Angie had the Mussels, Julian picked the Peking Duck sandwich, Larissa had the famous calamari burger, and Bo had Seafood Spaghetti.

I forgot to taste other people's choices, but my black squid fettuccine was very very tasty. The fettuccine is cooked to perfection. The colour looked amazing. The portion is just right, with room for dessert. However, Julian's Peking Duck sandwich looks quite small, even with Caesar salad. For a guy, it looked like he could've finish it in two bites. He had to order another order of fries to top it up. Otherwise, everyone were quite content with their choices.

For dessert, most of us picked 3 scoops of ice cream with biscotti. They have awesome selections of ice cream and sorbet. I personally think the best flavour is coffee caramel. The coffee flavour is not too heavy, the caramel sweeten the coffee flavour right up.

It was a very good night, the setting of the place offers plenty of room. We were able to carry out conversations without having to shout at each other (happens all the time at Earls or Cactus Club)

At the end of night, we each pay about 40 bucks for a drink, a main course and dessert, not bad considering it is an Iron Chef restaurant :)

I can't wait for Vancouver's weather to get better to go back and enjoy their patio~
