Brunch in Vancouver

The weekend brunch in Vancouver is as common as the construction cranes. And nothing beats a relaxing brunch, right? But, first you'll have to line up, then wait for your server and hope that he or she won't forget about your table. Perhaps you get the feeling that the owners are rushing you out of your table and out the door. On lazy Sunday mornings, I wish I could just hang out for another cup - perhaps open a paper or do some people watching.

That's why I recommend Melriches Coffee House. First of all, I never feel like there is a count-down for when I leave and open the table for new customers. When I walk into Melriches I am welcomed immediately by the warm atmposhere, good seating, down-to-earth servers and happy customers. People are seen doing their own thing like reading newspapers, writing in journals, catching up with old friends, watching the soundless T.V. and of course sucking back their javas (free refills if you eat in.) As well, if you ever want to grab a bite by yourself, this is the perfect place to go. Nobody cares if you sit at a table all by yourself. For me, this place is so comfortable, I never want to leave. I always sit at the spacious bar with my boyfriend, (we enjoy the comfy chairs.) They serve breakfast all day, and have a lot to offer. From healthy vegetarian omelettes and yoghurt with granola to decadent apple cinnamon pancakes, there is something for everyone to enjoy and the menu prices are quite reasonable. The drip coffee is from the local company Bean around the World- it's very yummy.

There are so many restaurants you can go to in Vancouver to eat brunch, but how many of them let you eat in peace? Overall if you want a hassle free brunch that is guaranteed to fill you up, calm your nerves, satisfy your caffeeine cravings and go easy on the bank book, I say go to Melriches! There is one in Yaletown, another on Davie Street and also one on Main and 20th. Check it out, and let me know what you think.
