Commercial Drive - where the girls for girls are
My next several entries will feature different Restaurants/Bars/Pubs along the cool strip that is Commercial Drive.
This week's featured hang out: Stella's
Stella's is a primarily a Tapas bar and Belgium beer house. The clientele is mixed and there is always a significant lesbian contigent here, coming from all over the city. As well, the owners are committed to serving and expanding their number of queer girl customers as they say we are, "our best and favourite customers". Part of how they do this is by sponsoring a lot of queer and women-centric events, so being welcome and comfortable in this spot, will not be an issue!
Stella's is located right on one of the most popular strips along the Drive, right on a corner bordering Grandview Park and right in the mix of some of the neighbourhood's & city's busiest brunch destinations. Stella's has yummy brunches on the weekend and much of their tapas is distinctly delicious.
Part of the fun for visitors to Stella's is their extensive beer selection and weekly beer fresh sheet. Pours are done according to European-style traditions and are served in the corresponding glassware. While this is not the cheapest place on the Drive, you can pick and choose your items according to taste and budget and if you have some beer money burning a hole in your pocket, you can happily experiment with many a brew and expand your beer knowledge.
