The Cambie Gastown: good people, cheap drinks, fun times!

If you are looking for a fully laid-back place where you can hang out and not break your budget, the Cambie Pub is definitely the way to go. In fact, it's one of the few places in Vancouver where you can still get a pint of beer for $3.75!

And it epitomizes what Vancouver is-international. Just the other night, I went to the Cambie with a couple of British friends and we found ourselves cuddled up at a table with some Albertans, an American, a few Aussies and a group from Ireland. It was impossible for us all to keep to ourselves, have any sense of privacy. That made the night fun!

It's also a great place to catch the Canucks game or shoot a round of pool while munching on some good ol' Canadian grub: a big juicy burger and fries.

Coming to the Cambie is like becoming a bit of history as well. The building itself dates back to 1887 and displays the architectural style of Vancouver's beginnings. For a bit of lore, during Prohibition of the ‘20's, it was here that bootleggers funneled their brew from across the bridge at False Creek.

Ahh...the Cambie: good people, cheap drinks, fun times!
