A taste of Africa in Vancouver

If you are like me and love to find new spots to eat out at, you just have to make your way to the Afro-Canadian Restuarant on Cambie.
It's a modest establishment decorated with African pictures and hangings. Bob Marley or other African beats play on the stereo. The owner will greet you with a smile and warm hello. But it's the food that delights most.
The menu is filled with ...

Chill Winston

Working near Gastown means lunches in Gastown on sunny days. I have walked up and down Gastown many times and all the sudden, Chill Winston popped up. I could not recall when Chill Winston opened its door, I really should pay more attention to the neighbourhood.

First visited to Chill Winston was about 2 months ago and had their Braised Ribs. Oh heaven! It was soooooo delicious. It was the best ...

Girl/Girl: Best Lesbian Club Events

Like many cities, Vancouver's gay scene has a lot of actual venues specifically catering to the gay male population - men still earn more in general and tend to go out more often, thus supporting regular nightclubs and pubs.

There are however, a couple of major event companies that book ongoing lesbian oriented club nights and live music gigs. Check out these links below:

Dress Shopping

I recently got engaged. And like all brides, the most important item on the list is "THE wedding dress". And after many many hours of research online and flipping tons of magazines later... I have booked appointments with several popular wedding gown shops in Vancouver.

My very first wedding dress shopping experience is with Isabelle located right by Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver. It was a popular day at the ...

Get your Canucks gear!

The best place in town to get REAL Canucks stuff is definitely at Authentix right at GM Place. If you're in town, unable to see the game, but want to support the local hockey team, Authentix is the place to go. There are two floors full of Canucks stuff. Official jerseys, all types of shirts, onesies for the kids and other Canucks related clothing. There are also flags, ...

Monday, April 23rd - The Most Important Night in Vancouver Thus Far in the Year?

On Monday, April 23rd, the Vancouver Canucks will face the Dallas Stars in an epic battle of Game Seven.

With two chances to eliminate the almighty Stars from Dallas, the Vancouver Canucks are desperate for a win, or simply just to score a goal, as the past two outings for the Canucks have resulted in scoreless hockey.

With what should be an interesting night of hockey, be sure to be in the ...

Bowen Island - a short hop from the city

mt-gardner-view-north-summit.jpg

A trip to Bowen Island makes a fantastic excursion out of Vancouver, especially now the weather has improved.

Some of the most spectacular views can be seen from the North summit of Mt Gardner, as pictured above, but there is a fair hike before you can enjoy the scenery. From the ferry landing point at Snug Cove, it is around an 11km round trip to ...

Getting high at Whistler

Whistler Resort is set to construct a new lift. Unlike the Symphony Express Chair unveiled this year that opened up a thousand acres of new terrain, this one won't be to get up to a new set of runs. Instead, it will link the two mountains, Whistler and Blackcomb.  The "Peak to Peak Gondola" will set a height record, 415 metres (1,316 feet)  at its highest point, and run a length of 4.4 kilometres. The travel ...

Vancouver Shares its Cars

C.A.N. is exclusive to the city, while ZipCar has recently come to Vancouver byway of London, England, the United States, and Toronto.

Car-sharing allows for members to reserve cars according to their needs and pay daily or hourly rates for the vehicle usage. It saves the hassle of owning a car, and is beneficial for the environment.

Car-sharing is easier than renting a car. While predominantly an incentive for local ...
