Clove Restaurant...I Like It....Would You?

I just found out that there are two Clove Restaurants in Vancouver, however the one I speak of is located at:

2054 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC 604-255-5550

The other location: (735 Denman Street, Vancouver, BC) is news to me. I was in the Commercial location last night, enjoying a dinner composed of: Bhaji's and Pakora's to start and Kofta as a main dish. I have enjoyed meals at Clove since its inception as a restaurant/record bar nearly 7 years ago.

I remember that in it's first year of operation, I purchased a second-hand Limp Bizkit CD from the restaurant as a gift for a friend's birthday...I sincerely hope that he does not still have that CD, and that he somehow managed to exchange it towards either a credit or cash.

When I did some snooping around on the 'net I found a fair amount of mediocre/negative reviews of this restaurant, surprisingly more than I would have expected. In its seven years of operation I have been more than a dozen times, maybe even more than two-dozen, and while I will say that throughout changes in management/staff the restaurant has varied in its appeal, it has certainly stayed a personal favorite. I've never had what I would deem a bad meal there.

The atmosphere is enticing. A small environment laid out in such a way as to create the greatest sense of intimacy. The decor and the menu reflect the truly 'Asian'-fusion mixture which this restaurant is composed of. It's like enjoying a Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Thai, Balian meal all in one. Prices are reasonable with all appetizers coming in under the double-digit figures, and mains not exceeding $20 CDN. The bar is first-rate so if you want to gain a sense of the place without committing yourself to a meal I suggest dropping by for a drink with some friends. Who knows you might even chose to share an appetizer amongst yourselves.
