Fancy yourself a Salsero? Cut the floor at these Nightspots!
When Vancouverites need to fill their Salsa craving these nightspots leave the door wide open:
Tango 8 Grill
The Tango 8 Grill heats up on Friday nights, as the tables are cast aside to open up the dance floor. A live band performs sets, while a DJ picks up the slack between numbers by spinning a mix of favorites. It is not unusual to see impromptu Ruedas (Cuban Salsa performed as a circle dance) and any number of other spectacular moves. But beginners be not intimidated as the crowd is very warm and welcoming, and whatever skill you possess, you're sure to find a use for it on the floor. Things get going around 10:00pm & there is a cover charge.
CitySalsaVibe
Who knew the Law Courts Inn, watering hole of the city's judicial community turns into a Salsa club on weekends? Well it does, and the floor gets packed with dancers. Here the preference is more for LA Style Salsa, although Cuban finds a way of slipping in. You're less likely to come across a Rueda at this location, but once again the opportunities to dance abound.
Lessons are offered here at 9:00pm (which is a bonus), and the DJ starts spinning at roughly 10:00pm. Once again a cover charge is in effect, as well as a mandatory coat check. City Salsa Vibe is the organizer so check out their website (linked above) for all the details.
