For my first blog on Vancouver, I would like to say something witty, charming and absolutely too bold for you -- dear reader -- to resist. Unfortunately this will not happen, as i am nervous. You see, Vancouver is a paradise to me, and if i do not write perfectly about this sexy, ever evolving and alluring city --- I will feel a failure. I love this place... from the hotty totty and nose pinned up starbucks crowd of Yaletown, to the flamboyant and racy banners of Davie street to the dirty, down and out downtown east side. I have been around the world, and this diversity I see in many cities... but how many of these exciting and fresh cities have the backdrop of the stunning west coast mountains? How many of these cities get frosted with snow in the winter and scorched by the hot sun in the summer? How many of these cities have miles of beaches, at the base of their mountains with a beautiful city nestled in between? Sure there may be taller mountains, sandier beaches and prettier sky scrapers in other places... but not many that can call all three home. I'll sky the alps one day, and I'll swim the beaches of the Carribean, but there is no where else I will ever call home.
So once I think of something incredibly inspiring to say, and with all the perfect subtelty of just the right words to describe my city, then I will post a real blog... for now, this is my rave of Vancouver.
