Memorial Peace Park - Maple Ridge, British Columbia
The bandstand in the middle of the park is the site of many Maple Ridge festivities throughout the year. It was constructed and given as a gift to the city in May of 1994 by the Maple Ridge Concert band and their fund raising efforts.
It hosts the Haney Farmer's Market which runs every Saturday from April - October (9 AM - 2 PM) where you can pick up fresh, local produce (including fresh honey), baked goods, and preserves. It is a rain or shine event and bring the kids to be amused by local entertainers and artists througout the day.
The Memorial Peace Park is also where we celebrate Canada's Day, where we observe Rembrance Day, the home of festivals and music events and in the summer bring the family to enjoy a free puppet show put on by our local library in the evening (check back in June for an updated schedule).
Or just drop by the park, there is a nice winding path through the park, you are surrounded by the sights and sounds of 224th street, the ACT (Arts Centre Theatre), our library and our community centre. Better yet, stop by Marina's Gelato and bring it to one of the many park benches to enjoy some quiet and serenity in the middle of town.
Please be sure to come back tomorrow (and every Friday afterwards) for A Day Trip to Maple Ridge. You will find an itinerary waiting for you to enjoy our great city over the weekend.
