Looking to kill an hour or two? Head on down to Riverside Bowl, downtown attached to the Plaza Co-op grocery store. Since moving into their new location, they've done a lot of renovation to make it a great place to entertain your family.

With 16 lanes of 5 pin bowling goodness, you generally can sneak onto a lane anytime throughout the day. They also have some classic upright arcade video games that you can plug your stray quarters into. For the crane game fanatics they also have one of those that you can try your luck (or skill?) at winning your girl a stuffed animal. You can book a birthday party there which features a few different packages of bowling, food, etc. and they have a large entertaining section in the back with many tables.

On the weekends, they also have glow bowling which is a neat experience, and along with the pins being lit up with black light, you can rent a glow ball to hurl at them in the dark.

Im pretty sure its standard at all alleys now, but they have a computer system that keeps score for you and all the players' names are entered, and come up on the screen.

With a rockin jukebox, this licensed establishment would definitely be a great evening out with a bunch of friends. Its pretty fairly priced as wellat $3.35/game and $1.50 for shoe rental. So for under 20 bucks you could play 3 games and maybe have a couple beers to boot!

Located in the Plaza Co-op shopping centre, Lower Level 5118-47th Ave.
Phone: 403-342-6800 for hours of operation

Well, Denny's has become my new best friend on Tuedays and Saturdays, especially having two monsters that for some reason like to eat. For those that don't know, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4pm to 10pm at Denny's, kids eat free with purchase of an adult meal.
So it's definitely worth it to take the family there for us with two kids, and that much more so for bigger family's.

They have a great looking kids menu with a lot of variety for even the pickiest of eaters. With Moons and Stars Nuggets to Crazy Alien Pancakes, the kids will love it, and parents will love not having to pay for it! For the regular priced adult meals, I find them to be a bit overpriced, but coupled with the free kids meals it works out to be a good deal.
I recommend having the Philly Melt if you go. It has a unique flavour unlike I've had in any other restaurant. It definitely keeps me coming back for more, and with the added choice of side dishes, you don't leave hungry that's for sure.
The service is not bad, for the most part always pleasant. Depending on how busy the restaurant is, we've had a bit of a wait to be served, but if that doesn't bother you then it's not much of an issue.

The restaurant is open 24 hours and is licensed so I'm sure it's a haven for the bar crowd later at night looking to curb their appetites, as not much is open that late in Red Deer. The restaurant is located right around a number of hotels as well as a local shopping mall, so it's location is ideal for the hungry traveller!

Located at 2940 50th Ave. Phone for more information: 403-348-5040

Situated across from Bower Mall, Travelodge, Holiday Inn Express, Sandman

Tiffany's as the regulars call it, recently underwent renovations to rejuvenate and give itself a breath of life...and I must say it succeeded. The decor of deep greens and red wood tones are very warm and welcoming and offered an excellent ambience. The hum of the crowd offered comfort, but wasn't overbearing. The lighting created just the right relaxing mood.

The menu concentrates on a select few items, possibly allowing them to excel at a few things, as opposed to being mediocre with a wide selection. With a few chicken and stir fry dishes, the clientele is offered more choice with several different dishes centered around the mighty steak, which generally isnt an issue being in Alberta! With the lowest entree starting at $16.99 and topping out at around the $60 mark for the lobster/seafood platter (for the deep pocketed patrons), Tiffany's isn't an everyday type restaurant for most folk, but is definitely a nice treat or for a special occassion.

The lounge is also a great place for a relaxing end of day drink, and I know a number of people who enjoy doing just that!

Ultimately Cafe Tiffany's ended up being a pleasant experience. Very classy throughout and the service was great. We didn't feel rushed at all as we sat and visited for probably longer than the usual average length of time. Give Tiffany's a shot!

Located at the top of the south hill at 3515 50 Ave (Gaetz Ave)

Call for reservations 403-341-3366 or just to check out their current hours of operation.

Want to stay active when visiting Red Deer? Or maybe you just want something to burn off energy for your little monkeys? Check out the Collicutt Centre, a city maintained sports complex with literally something for everyone. The main attraction of course is the giant aquatic centre, complete with five different pools, and a steam room. The pools include the large main wave pool with a lazy river, a childrens pool with a monstrous fun centre in the middle, a fountain pool for the younguns, and two hot tubs, one with ramp access. They have male, female and very handy family changing areas.

The Collicutt also has a huge field house, two soccer pitches, gymnastics centre, arena, as well as a multi-level fitness area complete with a 290 metre four lane track.

A great family year-round attraction, at very reasonable prices for all of the above activities! If in Red Deer for an extended period of time, I recommend the Collicutt Card, which gives unlimited access on a monthly basis, and you could get your moneys worth within a week, no problem! My family have been members since the Collicutts opening, and we all love it for different reasons, and they are open early and stay open late as well! Enjoy!

They are located at: 3031 - 30 Avenue on the East end of Red Deer in between Hunting Hills High School and Notre Dame High School

Any questions? Give them a call! (403) 358-PLAY (7529)

Check out the Collicutt Centre info page HERE for fees, inquiries etc!
