Langano Skies gives Edmonton an Ethiopian Flavour

Ethiopian food

The first thing you notice when arriving at Langano Skies Restaurant is that it's quite easy to miss, being tucked away on a lesser known area of Whyte Ave.  Fortunately as soon as you enter through the front door, this is immediately forgotten as a delightful array of aromas tantalize your senses.

Walking into the restaurant you are immersed in the traditional colours and decor, with the added background music enhancing the atmosphere.

Ethiopian food consists of various meats and vegetables, flavoured with pepper, garlic, ginger and other spices.  The traditional way of eating involves one scooping up meats and vegetables that are served on a Moseb (a woven colourful basket) with torn-off strips of injera, (pancakey white flat bread) and eating from the same platter as others in the group. (i.e. without cutlery!)

The food is good and plentiful and spicy enough to please Indian and Thai cuisine lovers, but with some mild dishes to suit all.  Prices vary with appetizers starting at $2.25 and entrees averaging around $11.00.  To gain the best experience, go with a group and try an assortment of dishes and finish off with an organic Ethiopian beer!
