Very exciting news

A few months ago I stumbled across a very cool site.

BedJump.com is probably the coolest hotel related website around, so much so that HotelsByCity is proud to say that we are teaming up with BedJump.com to bring you a really fun, unique view of hotels and the hotel industry.

We have gotten together to give the site a fresh new look, with the same awesome content. ...

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from everyone at HotelsByCity.net! I hope everyone is having a fun day whether you believe in ghouls and goblins or not.

The best costume I've seen so far is sitting right across the room from me. He is dressed up like Mozilla's FireFox...this is probably funny for people who work with ...

Haunted Hotel Tour

Going ghost hunting in a graveyard or in a hotel may not be everyone's cup of tea. Not everyone likes having to wait all night just to get a chance to possibly hear or see something. Luckily for anyone who doesn’t want to wait until the last chime of mid-night for the headless butler to trip down the stairs, there is The R&R ...

Hotel Room lost in time

There is only one thing cooler than a haunted hotel room, and that is a hotel room that was sealed up and lost for 40 years!

The search for a leaky water pipe led to the recent discovery of a hidden room at the former West Virginian Hotel in Bluefield. Maintenance worker Dan Kirby was knocking down a wall looking for pipes two weeks ago when he found an entire ...

Luckily for pet owners - 19% who like to take your pet on vacation - are finally being heard.

After years of being over looked, AAA is reporting that ...

Spooks, and ghouls, and ghosts oh my!

With Halloween just on the horizon I thought it would be fun to take a look at the darker side of hotels. No, this is not an undercover report about how unclean some hotel is. Today I am all about haunted houses and haunted hotels!

I'm sure a lot of people are rolling their eyes right no thinking there is no such thing as a ghosts, no real haunted houses and it is all just made up! So sure, you may have never seen a ghost, but you've never seen the wind right? We all know that wind is real, so why not just humor me and keep reading.

There are houses, old schools, hotels, even entire towns that are said to be haunted all over the world, each one of them with their own unique stories. A young child can be heard running around upstairs, lights turning on and off, articles of clothing mysterious disappearing and turning up in strange places, the faint image of a beautiful young lady in the window. One thing they all have in common is people swear that what they have seen is real, and who are we to deny them?

I'm going to try featuring one or two haunted hotels everyday until Halloween just to get into the spirit of Halloween. If you have any great ghost stories I would love to hear them. If I get some good ones I will feature them on the blog on Halloween!

Hotel Bed Jumping

Bed Jumping

Quite frankly Hotel Bed Jumping could be the next Olympic sport. Anyone who has ever been stuck in a boring hotel room unable to fall asleep at night should really try this. It is something we all did as kids (or at least should have!!), and it is something that makes hotel rooms great.

Excuse me Mr. Sean Penn, please put out that cigarette

Sean Penn

The Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto, Ontario Canada could be facing a whooping $605 fine after actor Sean Penn lit up a cigarette during a press conference this week.

The city's public health department, which enforces the provincial anti-smoking law, alleges that the hotel failed to post appropriate signage in the building. This sort of violation carries a ...

No Pretty Girls Allowed

A hotel in Changchun of Jilin Province declared that only girls with a plain or unattractive appearance were wanted as chambermaids in a job ad issued last week.

"We have to refuse pretty women because most of them keep changing jobs, and our business has been affected," complained a manager who declined to be named.
