St. David's Hotel is in tune with your tunes

When you first walk into a fancy hotel you are usually greeted with the warm sounds of classical music. Perhaps it is Greensleeves or Pachelbel’s Canon in D. You check in, and make your way to the elevator where the music gets slightly louder. Then you make your way to the hotel's restaurant and some how the song that you thought you'd left in the elevator picks up right where ...

Spooks, and ghouls, and ghosts oh my!

With Halloween just on the horizon I thought it would be fun to take a look at the darker side of hotels. No, this is not an undercover report about how unclean some hotel is. Today I am all about haunted houses and haunted hotels!

I'm sure a lot of people are rolling their eyes right no thinking there is no such thing as a ghosts, no real haunted houses and it is all just made up! So sure, you may have never seen a ghost, but you've never seen the wind right? We all know that wind is real, so why not just humor me and keep reading.

There are houses, old schools, hotels, even entire towns that are said to be haunted all over the world, each one of them with their own unique stories. A young child can be heard running around upstairs, lights turning on and off, articles of clothing mysterious disappearing and turning up in strange places, the faint image of a beautiful young lady in the window. One thing they all have in common is people swear that what they have seen is real, and who are we to deny them?

I'm going to try featuring one or two haunted hotels everyday until Halloween just to get into the spirit of Halloween. If you have any great ghost stories I would love to hear them. If I get some good ones I will feature them on the blog on Halloween!

Spoil your pets on vacation

I remember going on school trips way back when with memories of being stuck in a double bed with another person all in the name of saving money. I remember having to fight for blankets in an awkward under the sheets, over the sheets battle for warmth while still trying to maintain your 'manliness'. Yes, I look back on those memories and think to myself, wow I'm glad I was ...

Fawlty Towers Face Lift

In 1971 John Cleese and the rest of the Monty Python gang stayed at a hotel that was a far cry from friend. The owner berated the actors for not holding their knives and forks properly while they dined and then threw one of their briefcases over a wall, suspecting it to be a bomb. You certainly don't get service like that anymore.

Now the Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, that inspired ...

Luxury London Hotel give a Face Lift

One of London’s most famous landmarks is to return to its original use as a luxury hotel. The Victorian Gothic style St. Pancras Chambers, better known as the frontage of St. Pancras Station at King’s Cross — built by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel — will reopen in January 2009 as the five-star Renaissance St. Pancras Hotel – London.
