Spooks, and ghouls, and ghosts oh my!

With Halloween just on the horizon I thought it would be fun to take a look at the darker side of hotels. No, this is not an undercover report about how unclean some hotel is. Today I am all about haunted houses and haunted hotels!

I'm sure a lot of people are rolling their eyes right no thinking there is no such thing as a ghosts, no real haunted houses and it is all just made up! So sure, you may have never seen a ghost, but you've never seen the wind right? We all know that wind is real, so why not just humor me and keep reading.

There are houses, old schools, hotels, even entire towns that are said to be haunted all over the world, each one of them with their own unique stories. A young child can be heard running around upstairs, lights turning on and off, articles of clothing mysterious disappearing and turning up in strange places, the faint image of a beautiful young lady in the window. One thing they all have in common is people swear that what they have seen is real, and who are we to deny them?

I'm going to try featuring one or two haunted hotels everyday until Halloween just to get into the spirit of Halloween. If you have any great ghost stories I would love to hear them. If I get some good ones I will feature them on the blog on Halloween!

Here are today’s featured haunted hotels:The Holt Hotel Oxfordshire England
Housed in a Building That Dates Back To 1500 That Was Renovated in 2001, This Historic Hotel is Spread Over 3 Floors and Comprises 86 Rooms of Which 4 Are Suites. Nestling on the edge of the Cotswolds in picturesque Oxfordshire, ideally situated close to the M40 and to many local attractions such as the city of Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Bicester Designer Outlet Shopping Village. Facilities offered include an inviting foyer with a reception desk, a bar, and a restaurant serving excellent cuisine.

Serving the warmest hospitality since 1475, from its early days as a coaching inn, the Holt has been one of the most popular hotels in Oxfordshire and not always with the most honorable clientele. Notorious highwayman Claude Duval often frequented the inn, spending his ill-gotten gains from the road, and is said to haunt the hotel to this day.

Hall Garth Corus Hotel
A beautiful 16th century house set in 67 acres of parkland, with extensive leisure facilities and a 9-hole par 72 golf course. Enjoy high standards of cuisine in Hugo's restaurant. For less formal occasions Stables Country Pub is ideal.

This 16th century hotel's beautiful exterior hides a macabre secret from guests who stay in room two. A terrified nun was buried alive between two walls following her affair with one of the monks living at the house. During the night bathroom taps are known to turn themselves on at the same time
