No Stirke for San Francisco Hotel workers
Good news for the hotel industry in San Francisco this week, after almost two weeks of picket lines and intense negotitaions hotel workers in San Francisco have made a tentative agreement for a new contact. This new contract will avert a second hotel workers strike in two years.
The contract, which runs through August 2009, grants higher wages, better pensions and full healthcare benefits to more than 4,200 members of Unite Here Local 2, a union of cooks, maids, bellmen and other hotel workers. They had been working without a contract for two years. The accord is retroactive to 2004.
