Fawlty Towers Face Lift

In 1971 John Cleese and the rest of the Monty Python gang stayed at a hotel that was a far cry from friend. The owner berated the actors for not holding their knives and forks properly while they dined and then threw one of their briefcases over a wall, suspecting it to be a bomb. You certainly don't get service like that anymore.

Now the Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, that inspired the cult hit Brit television show Fawlty Towers, is getting some upgrades, $1.8 million in upgrades in fact! The new owners of the hotel are turning into a warm luxury hotel that mixes the warmth and attraction of the hotel that inspiried Fawlty Towers with cool ameneties, a ground floor pool, balconies, and a lot more.

Orginally the new owners wanted to bury the past in the back garden, but when they saw how many people came in off the street just to see the Hotel that inspiried Fawlty Towers, they realized it would be best to combine the old with the new.
