Environmentally Friend Cost Cutting
According to the St. Petersburg Times, the TradeWinds Island Resort on St. Petersburg Beach became the only Tampa Bay hotel property to be certified under Florida's Green Lodging program.
The program means the TradeWinds Island Resort guest rooms are now sporting brand new energy-efficient air conditioners, and low-flow shower heads. There is also a strict recycling policy in effect to cut down on cardboard, glass, and paper waste. Once per year a team of 10 employees inspects all 744 rooms looking for any cracks, mold, or mildew that could affect the air quality of the room.
The Florida Hotel estimates that it saves $500,000 a year thanks to the Green Lodging program.
More hotels should consider become environmentally friendly. I do not think people realize how much money you can save in the long run.
