Gas Prices Should Not Affect Your Vacation!

I have been reading a lot of negative articles lately about how because of the high gas prices everyone should stay at home this summer. First let me tell you that totally disagree with this. Yes, summer is a time for backyard BBQs with family and friends, but most importantly it is to get out and explore the world. There is nothing better than getting back to the office with a crazy holiday story.

The most obvious way to battle prices at the pump is to budget the prices into your trip. If you are driving cross country to visit Grandma in Miami make sure you know where every penny is going. There is nothing scarier than running out of money and gas at the same time. It is all about self control when you are driving. Don't take to many detours, and ladies, when you see he is getting lost, ask for directions!

There is a second option that a lot of people don't think of - flying. Most people think that flying will cost more. However, if you are smart you say to yourself "Hey, I bet if I try to find a package deal I might save some money." And do you know what I would say to that you thinking out loud? I would say, duh! The best way to save money is combine everything. You will get the same satisfaction as fitting all your clothes back in the suitcase with all the extra nik-naks and assorted 'I Visited (insert city here), and I got was a Sunburn' t-shirts. And that, that is very satisfying!

I know I gas prices will not be affecting where I go this summer. I won't have anything to write about otherwise. So follow in my foot steps, keep on trucking this summer so everyone has a good story and a tan-to-make-everyone-jealous to share when they get home.

Do you have any money saving tips for the summer? Let me know in a comment.

yeah gas is getting crazy, I payed 50 bucks (cdn) to fill my car today. If I was going to travel the USA I'd rather fly it would probably be cheaper with all the online flight booking websites its easy to see all the options and find the lowest rate, step further and booking your whole vacation online seems to be getting easier everyday.

This summer i was just thinking about staying home, playing my online computer games and catching up on some comic book reading, but with your advice, i think i will take you up on that offer to travel the world and see new and exciting things. Explore and go on never ending action packed adventures. So this summer i'm gonna go where i always dreamed of going, but never had the drive to go. This summer i'm going to MORRIS MANITOBA!
