Sydney: Horse riding in Centennial Park

Riding in Centennial ParkI grew-up on the outskirts of Sydney (when it was ‘country', not project homes and bulldozed bush) and learnt to ride before I could walk. I retired my riding career at the ripe old age of 16 and enjoy a regular canter around the Park just because I love riding!

You'll find your steed at the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre ...

A bit of Sydney History: the Rocks!

The Rocks
The Rocks is one of the most-visited parts of Sydney. It is not hard to see why. Nestled at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on the western shores of Sydney Cove, The Rocks is the foundation place of Sydney and Australia, and of enormous historical signifiance. It is often described as "Sydney's outdoors museum". Read more...

Sydney's Centennial Parklands...a breath of fresh air

Centennial ParkIf you want to find some peace in this loud city, pack a picnic and go directly to Centennial Park. This 360-hectares of bush, swamp, ponds, green fields, walking and cycling tracks, playgrounds and pine-forests is only 10 minutes from the city, at the top of Oxford Street. Sir Henry Parkes dedicated the Parklands in 1888 and it was the ...

Sydney snorkelling: Kid-friendly Clovelly Beach

Clovelly BeachClovelly Beach is a narrow inlet around the headland from Coogee, with a small beach and picnic huts at the pointy end and concrete platforms and promenades along the once rocky shoreline. It's an odd look, reminiscent of something you might find at the English seaside.

During the depression, local men were employed to cement the shore and make the bay more user-friendly. There are ...

Racing Carnival

This is a little late for mention but still, better late than never. One of the highlights of Sydney’s social calendar is the Easter Races, more formally known as the Tooheys New Easter Carnival. Held over four days, they are the David Jones Derby, Emirates Doncaster Day, JPMorgan Australian Oaks Day and Schweppes Sydney Cup Day.

Day one, held on 7 April, David Jones Australian Derby Day, would be ...

Sydney diving: Gordon's Bay, Clovelly

With towering honey-coloured cliffs and large boulders strewn around the shoreline, this secluded bay is tucked between Clovelly and Coogee beaches. It's one of my favourite snorkelling and diving spots.

grouper.jpgCatch the 339 bus from the city (approx 25 mins) or park down the southern end (to the right) of Clovelly car park. Enjoy the great coastal views as you follow a small ...

Sydney: Massage by the sea, Coogee

Massage by the seaA friend booked one of these sensational massages for my birthday last year and I couldn't wait to get down there and ‘on the table'. Massage by the Sea was inspired by the relaxing, holiday atmosphere of Wylie's Baths, located around the cliffs at the north end of Coogee Beach.
