Sydney: Horse riding in Centennial Park

Riding in Centennial ParkI grew-up on the outskirts of Sydney (when it was ‘country', not project homes and bulldozed bush) and learnt to ride before I could walk. I retired my riding career at the ripe old age of 16 and enjoy a regular canter around the Park just because I love riding!

You'll find your steed at the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre ...

A bit of Sydney History: the Rocks!

The Rocks
The Rocks is one of the most-visited parts of Sydney. It is not hard to see why. Nestled at the foot of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and on the western shores of Sydney Cove, The Rocks is the foundation place of Sydney and Australia, and of enormous historical signifiance. It is often described as "Sydney's outdoors museum". Read more...

Sydney: Seasalt Café and Kiosk, Clovelly Beach

Seasalt Cafe at Clovelly BeachYou'll find the award-winning Seasalt, with her lovely umbrella-shaded veranda overlooking the water, just above the ocean pool at Clovelly Beach. It's a cross between a sophisticated dining experience, a casual beach joint where swimmers and thongs are OK and a take-away window offering fish and chips, pies, sandwiches and cold drinks to sunburnt beachgoers. It's ...

Sydney's Centennial Parklands...a breath of fresh air

Centennial ParkIf you want to find some peace in this loud city, pack a picnic and go directly to Centennial Park. This 360-hectares of bush, swamp, ponds, green fields, walking and cycling tracks, playgrounds and pine-forests is only 10 minutes from the city, at the top of Oxford Street. Sir Henry Parkes dedicated the Parklands in 1888 and it was the ...

Sydney snorkelling: Kid-friendly Clovelly Beach

Clovelly BeachClovelly Beach is a narrow inlet around the headland from Coogee, with a small beach and picnic huts at the pointy end and concrete platforms and promenades along the once rocky shoreline. It's an odd look, reminiscent of something you might find at the English seaside.

During the depression, local men were employed to cement the shore and make the bay more user-friendly. There are ...

Sydney: Fratelli Paradiso - stylish Italian bistro

My very handsome friend Telly is a huge foodie and introduced me to this restaurant in Potts Point. He reckons it's the Fratellli Paradisobest Italian in Sydney and I'm happy to agree with him!

It's a vibrant Italian bistro...with a scrumptious bakery out the back selling fabulous pastries, croissants and pizza. The giant blackboard gives you an extensive choice of seasonal Italian dishes; I highly ...

Sydney: Whale watching...go Moby!

Whale tailTen years ago, whale watching was unheard of in Sydney. We didn't even know whales migrated up the coast, such was the decline in their numbers after years of harpooning. Thankfully (most) nations have now stopped this barbaric hunting and it's with much joy and awe that Sydneysiders and visitors can watch the giants of the ocean cruising past.

Whale watching season ...
