Sydney: Take the plunge at Wylie's Baths, Coogee

  Wylie

Just around the north end of Coogee Bech, nestled against the cliff face, is Wylie's, one of Sydney's oldest swimming baths, establish in 1907. Wylie's Baths has the feel of a bygone era, with a 50m rock pool surrounded by an elevated long wooden boardwalk, supported by stilts, with change rooms, sun-lounging spaces and a kiosk high above the shimmering ocean.

Badly damaged by a storm in 1974, the Baths were closed and eventually re-opened in 1978, although years of salt and sea were taking their toll on the structure. Wylie's Baths underwent an award-winning restoration in the mid-90s and this Dawn over Wylie'smuch-loved Sydney icon remains a splendid spot for a day at the seaside.
