Melbourne International Arts Festival



For anyone with a love of art and the desire to chat with link-minded souls or, simply hope to admire a diverse array of canvases, the Melbourne International Arts Festival offers something for eveyone.  The event goes from October 11-27 with seminars, classes and exhibitions scheduled to be presented at a variety of venues.

Notably, this Festival is the result of many collaborations.  The event is a showcase of appealing workshops, masterclasses to guided by some of the international creative artists and companies which are appearing in the Festival program. The events are copresented by Malthouse Theatre, Chunky Move and, you guessed it, National Institute for Circus Arts. Please note, some events are designed for professionals only and are not open to the public. Limited places are available.

For the general public, this is an opportunity to learn about theatre groups and also to take advantage of opportunities to catch some fabulous productions. have you ever desired to speak with actors after the show? This particualr festival offers you the chance to talk with people who have chosen and pursued a variety of theatre and art careers. Students and anyone else contemplating a change in career direction may wish to find out more about particular areas of theatre, music and other creative arts.

As part of this festival, the Footscray Community Arts Centre is seeking emerging and professional rappers to take part in a free masterclass presented by Footscray Arts and Melbourne International Arts Festival. Fifteen lucky musicians have the chance to work with Congolese rapper, hip hop artist, producer and performer Pitcho Womba Konga (Sizwe Banzi is Dead) as part of the Footscray Arts International Artists Residency. So, if you're even thinking this may be 'up your alley,' then go, take part or participate in some capacity.
