Melbourne Writer's Festival

An upcoming event worth time is The Age's 2007 Melbourne Writer's Festival. This will take place from Tuesday August 24-Sunday September 2.  Baffle yourself with the up-and-coming.  Discover writers you hadn't heard of and others you've read for years.  Meet them over a coffee or at an event reception.

Its an opportunity to hob-nob with international literary minds of the past and present.  Writers, publishers, agents and a fascinated public all get together for discussions, debate, short courses and critic exchanges.  Come, listen and expand your insight into books during Australia's leading literary event.

The Festival consists of a series of public  interviews, readings, and panel discussions.  Historically, it has attracted over 38,000 attendances and 200 writers from around the world.  The event begins with a high-profile keynote address and an opening night reception and party.  If you can't take it all in, take time for a segment of the program.  It runs a full five days including two weekends.

The festival takes place mostly at the CUB Malthouse in Southbank, and also at the Melbourne Town Hall, BMW Edge, ACMI, and at other venues in Melbourne's CBD.  Rain venues are to be determined closer to the festival itself.
