Mother's Day Classic Run
Its an annual event in Melbourne to raise money for breast cancer by walking or running a distance on Mother's Day (May 13). Visitors to the area can join even if they have no sponsors at the time. You can donate on-line before and/or after the race itself. Participation in this memorable experience is said to be a true eye-opener. If you've never done anything like it before, this could be your year to feel part of something bigger than yourself. Why not take it in as part of a city tour before visiting other sites?
Anyone you talk to who has participated before will tell you that morale, comaraderie and enthusiasm are typically high. Why not get active on forums and blogs that discuss this race? You can do this before and after the event itself. Connect with people you know or people who share your common interest in this worthy cause.
For the first time this year, the race start will be Alexandra Gardens, off St Kilda Rd. The course will then follow the scenic area of the Tan Track as it winds around the Royal Botanic Gardens. The race will take place from 6h45am- noon on the day. Even if you don't wish to run or walk, come by to show your support and cheer on the participants. If you would like to participate in another way, contact organisers. You can volunteer to hand out water or direct traffic, but there are other options as well.
